I- Intention
I remember the days
feeling as if life was running me over and I had no control! I was overcome
with what I thought were huge tasks and projects and I had no idea where to
even begin. I became convinced that the best I could do was survive
and just get through. That was before discovered the transforming
strategy of Intention. Harnessing my thoughts.
Intention means to do something with purpose. When I began
to start each day with Intention or purpose, I found I was far more
productive and efficient. The quality of my days began to increase and
the more I practiced Intention the more time I had to accomplish more.
Intention can be used in every area of our lives. It can be
used to improve relationships, to focus on projects at home, to accomplish
tasks with work and most importantly, to nourish ourselves. Truthfully,
it can promote increase in every area we apply it.
Begin each day with some Intentions you would like to accomplish.
Note them in your workbook or your journal. Sometimes I jot
these down the evening before.
Let me share a trick with you. When you look at your first
Intention take a minute and break it down into small actionable steps.
For example: My
Intention is to clean out my refrigerator.
The first actionable
step is to find a bucket and washcloth.
Then fill the bucket
with soapy water
The next could be to
clear off one shelf.
Remove the shelf
Throw away any spoiled
items. Wipe down the remaining items
Wipe the shelf
Return it to the
refrigerator and return items.
Go to the next shelf.
Each time I accomplish
one step and acknowledge it, I trigger the endorphins in my brain and the
Relaxation Response in my body. It is a WIN! My mind believes I am capable and that
starts the ball rolling. The simple example above gave me seven opportunities
to feel success and recognize my wins.
This example took less that 5 minutes.
Practice small
actionable steps to set yourself up for successful days, weeks, months and
years. It all starts with Intention.
Intention is vital when
it comes to self care and self nourishment. Intention begins with the
beginning.
Today, I invite you to
continue in the forward movement and write down some Intentions that you would
like to accomplish today. You can make a list of small actionable steps
or create the list in your imagination. Whichever you choose,
cross each step off, give yourself a W-3 WIN, and continue on to
the next.
It feels so good to let ourselves recognize each and every win.
