Your Future is Your Property


Your future is your property and it is built one thought at a time.  

How does it feel when you read this?  

We are quickly approaching the beginning of a new year and we can create a year like no other for ourselves.  

Here are a few steps I recommend for creating your future:

  1. Think about what you are thinking.  How are you thinking about you?  If your daughter or son had a friend that spoke to them like you speak to yourself, would you think they were a good friend?
    It is important to understand where we are with our thinking. Just like using GPS, we need to know where our starting point is. 
  2. Now that you have your beginning location, think about your destination.  It is your thoughts that will get you there.  If you want to lose some weight or organize your home or build your relationships, the way you think is the way to get there.  Speaking of The Way, how does HE speak of you?  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer 29:11
  3. Practice practicing thoughts that are future building.  This takes work.  "We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ" 2 Cor 10:5. 

I am so excited for you and for your future.  Thinking intentionally is the best way to start.

Are You Okay With It Taking Time?  Every change we make, every accomplishment we achieve takes a certain amount of time.   We could even agree that the greatest accomplishments take more time.   But when it comes to losing weight, we want it to be fast.  This messes with our mind, our emotions and our commitment. I want you to think about when you enrolled in college.  You decided on a field of study and a degree you set out to earn and graduate.   Or, you can think about High School.  You set out to graduate.   When you signed up, you expected that it would take a number of days you would need to continue taking action.  You made a plan, followed through and repeated.....Over and over and over.   When you were a sophomore, did you say to yourself, "I haven't graduated yet I think I'll quit?" The New Normal

The New Normal How do we decide what normal eating is? Who decides?  Is it us or is it culture? Is it my thoughts, or society's thoughts? What is the association we are creating with our thoughts about food being part of our life events? Do we really need pizza and beer to make watching football more enjoyable?  Do we need to have sugary treats to celebrate the Holidays? I personally, had to spend time questioning my involvement in spreading this confusion during family gatherings. One of the qualities I wanted to be known for was to be a good cook.  I had to decide what I thought a "good cook" meant to me.  Was it to bake foods that were loaded with mind altering substances? Or, could I decide that preparing food that was actually higher on the nutritional scale is of more value? Hmm, what an interesting question.  What is my new normal?
