Will Get You There
Have you ever noticed your GPS gets
you back on the right path without judging you?
you back on the right path without judging you?
What if we talked to ourselves in the am way as our GPS?
Are you willing to think about it? It could make a huge difference in how we reach our destination and how much we enjoy the journey to that destination.
Let's talk about how to use a GPS. First we access our beginning location. When I work with my clients, we do this by noting our food intake. We also begin to notice how we are eating- hurried, emotional, unconscious....
After we determine the starting point, then we get clear on the destination. This is not simply a number on the scale. What difference will it make? What will I be able to do physically? How will I be thinking about my relationship with food? How will I be thinking about my body, mind and spirit?
After we determine the starting point, then we get clear on the destination. This is not simply a number on the scale. What difference will it make? What will I be able to do physically? How will I be thinking about my relationship with food? How will I be thinking about my body, mind and spirit?
We have the starting place, we have the destination. Now we begin the journey. This journey continually takes use through four steps. These four steps include - Awareness, Acceptance, Accountability and Action. Let's break those down:
Awareness - We start here. It is the beginning point, but it also is where the GPS takes us if we take a turn off the path. We become aware when we have eaten in a way that doesn't follow our plan. Just notice it. BTW a GSP never tells us how we have messed up or judges us, it just redirects us back to the path.
Acceptance - acceptance is the acknowledgment that we are a work in progress and that is a beautiful think. Acceptance also helps us realize that we are at the work of cultivating more and more the person we are created to be. In acceptance we own it when we have turned off the path and direct ourselves back toward the destination. Like a GPS, we can accept we have turned off the path and decide to return to the road ahead.
Accountability - or commitment is the step that shows us what we are truly capable of accomplishing. This step includes making decisions ahead of time. Planning 24 hours in advance and in writing. This is the step that gives our prefrontal brain a head start over our primal brain that wants pleasure.
Action - is following through. Every plan we create, when we follow through, we show ourselves that we can be dependable. We do have our own backs. We can accomplish any goal we have set out to reach!
This is the GPS journey for you to reach any goal you want, just like any destination on on your car GPS.
In this process, there will be times you will turn off the road. As your coach, I will guide you back on track through awareness, acceptance, accountability and action. I do this ta
Like a GPS, there will be no judgment, no shaming, no guilt - simply redirecting. I will teach you how to take each thought captive to the obedience of Christ. I will remind you of your identity and that will keep you on the road and give you the results you hope for.
