You Can Cook For Your Family

Stop Overeating


I remember the years of struggle.  I was trying to juggle all the roles.

Mommy - I had three children and the oldest was three and a half.

Wife - Married to a rancher/business man who was getting his business off the ground.

Cook - Something I did not come by naturally....and all the other roles.  

I had these ideas of what kind of nutrition I wanted to provide for my family, but I believed it took too much time and money.  With that mindset I went from over-complicating food prep to throwing my hands in the air and resorting to the quickest and easiest low quality items.  

All of this while I was so tired I could hardly function.  I remember waking up feeling as if I had not even slept. My brain fog was like a Linus (from Charlie Brown) cloud following me around.

To top it off,  I was cleaning up my kid's plates... all of it, closet eating my favorite sweets and rewarding my children with more sweets!  The pounds came on the energy sunk more.  

Does this sound familiar?  Are you overwhelmed with the struggle? 

Let me offer a little perspective.  There are three effective strategies that will help.

1) Start talking to yourself like a friend you hope your daughter will have.  One that is compassionate and encouraging. 

2) Create a 24 hour plan.  Make sure it is realistic and simple.  Don't spend more than three minutes on this.  

3) Follow through on your plan.  If it's on your plan, eat it.  If it's not on your plan, you can put it on the plan tomorrow.  

That's it! 

These three steps will create awareness within you.  You will start noticing how you speak to yourself.  You will start noticing that planning actually makes life easier. You will notice that you are someone you can count on.  You can honor your plan.

When you start implementing these steps 24 hours at a time,  you will notice that your brain will try making excuses and tell you you can't do it or that this won't work.  That's okay.  That is what human brains do. There is nothing wrong with you.  But notice that those thoughts aren't true.
