When all you can ask is why?
When all you can ask is why?
Do you find yourself asking:
"Why is this happening?"
"Why is this so hard?"
"Why can't I do this?"
"Why is this happening?"
"Why is this so hard?"
"Why can't I do this?"
If you do, let me give you some steps that will help stop the internal spinning mind that goes along with questions like that. I call it the "whiny why".
First, understand that our habit brain prefers that we stay in confusion. Confusion is more familiar than proactive action. It's the way human primal brains work. It will do anything to keep from increasing effort. And that's okay.
Notice that your brain immediately focuses on answering questions. Our habit brain goes directly to the past and to avoidance. This, too is a safe place but is will recreate what we have had in the past.
Second, remind yourself of your BIG WHY. What is the reason you decided to stop overeating? What is the end result you want to powerfully? What difference will it make?
Spend some time getting really clear on what difference it will make. For me, it means staying fit and healthy enough to continue riding horses when my husband and I work together. When my grandson is old enough to ride with us, I'll be that grandma who is right there with him. 💖
This question, "What is your BIG WHY?" Will take you into your future. The answers to this question come from our prefrontal, planning brain. All of these answers come from our future, which we are building with intentional thoughts. It may seem harder to think these thoughts. That is because they are not as familiar. You have practice them less than the confusion/doubt thoughts.

Practicing these future focused thoughts is like going to the mind gym. When you first start, it feels hard. Do you expect to be able to run three miles on the first day? Try one "lap". Try one thought.
As I said before, your brain wants to answer questions. It will find evidence to support the answer.

The key to creating the future we long for is to ask the empowering questions.
Whenever you hear yourself ask a "whiny why" like, "Why not eat a cupcake off plan?" Simply think; A better question is," What does my BIG WHY have to say about cupcakes?"
I help women learn to ask themselves empowering questions so they can make empowering decisions. Let me help you. Schedule a call with me today. Click Here to Schedule
You will be amazed at how helpful it is to ask your BIG WHY.
